Defence lawyers for former Bosnian Serb soldiers Boro Milojica and Zelislav Rivic argued that they should be cleared of responsibility for the killing of 19 Bosniaks, Roma and Croats in villages in the Prijedor area in 1992. The Bosnian prosecution argued that former Bosnian Serb Army soldiers Boro Milojica and Zelislav Rivic should be found guilty of responsibility for the killing of 19 Bosniaks, Roma and Croats in villages in the Prijedor area in 1992. In closing arguments at the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Thursday, the prosecution insisted that it had proved during the trial that Boro Milojica and Zelislav Rivic, former members of the Sixth Company of the Bosnian Serb Army’s Ljubija Battalion, participated in a widespread and systematic attack on the non-Serb population in the Prijedor area in June and July 1992.

Ranko Babic, Bratislav Bilbija and Djuro Adamovic went on trial in Sarajevo, accused of the torture, abuse and murder of Bosniak civilians in the village of Ljeskare near Prijedor in August 1992. The trial of former Bosnian Serb soldiers Ranko Babic, Bratislav Bilbija and Djuro Adamovic began at the Bosnian state court on Monday.

The defence lawyer for former Bosnian Serb reservist policeman Mico Jurisic urged the court to acquit him of committing crimes against humanity against non-Serb civilians in the Prijedor area in 1992. In closing statements at the Bosnian state court on Monday, Mico Jurisic’s defence said he should be found not guilty of participating in the persecution of the non-Serb civilian population in the Prijedor area through crimes including murders, torture, the unlawful deprivation of liberty, taking people to detention camps and other inhumane acts.

Former Bosnian Serb soldiers Ranko Babic, Bratislav Bilbija and Djuro Adamovic will stand trial for the torture, abuse and murder of Bosniak civilians in the village of Ljeskare near Prijedor in August 1992. The Bosnian state court on Monday confirmed an indictment charging Babic, Bilbija and Adamovic, in their capacity as commanding officers and soldiers of the Bosnian Serb Army, with contravening the Geneva Conventions’ provisions on the protection of civilians at a time of war.

The state court in Sarajevo confirmed the acquittals of Bosnian Serb ex-soldiers Rade Vlasenko, Drago Koncar and Milan Krupljanin of killing Bosniaks in Prijedor in 1992. The Bosnian state court’s appeals chamber on Thursday upheld last year’s verdict finding Rade Vlasenko, Drago Koncar and Milan Krupljanin not guilty of killing two Bosniaks - Rajifa Memic and her mother, Radifa Kurtovic - in the Barakovac neighbourhood in Prijedor in June 1992.
