Re-Examination of Court Expert Ordered in Cacic and Motika Case

The prosecution said it would present the same evidence and would re-examine neuropsychiatrist Alma Bravo-Mehmedbasic.
Dragisa Cacic’s defense objected to re-examining Bravo-Mehmedbasic, and said she had gone “from the expert examination sphere to the legal sphere.”
Judge Zinaida Husic accepted the district prosecution’s proposal and said the neuropsychiatrist would testify again.
In September 2014, the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska repealed a verdict which acquitted Dragisa Cacic, Milenko Cacic and Vojo Motika of war crimes against the civilian population in Rogatica in 1992. The verdict was handed down after the district prosecution had filed an appeal against the first instance verdict.
On March 24, 2014, the district court of Eastern Sarajevo acquitted Dragisa Cacic, Milenko Cacic, and Vojo Motika of charges that they killed Midhat Dzananovic and tortured his 13 year old son Meho Dzananovic in the vicinity of the village of Starcici on August 8, 1992. They acted in collaboration with another unidentified person.
Dragisa Cacic’s defense said it would probably examine one or two witnesses as new testimony.
Milenko Cacic’s defense said it would have some material evidence to present at the retrial.
Motika’s defense attorney, Dragoslav Peric, asked the court to release him from his ex-officio duties. He said certain fees had not been paid, but he had good relations with the defendant.
Judge Husic rejected this request.
The trial will be continued on October 14.
