The District Court in the town of Doboj on Tuesday convicted Brestovac of war crimes for participating in the murder of Muharem, Muhamed and Ismeta Aldobasic in the village of Miljkovac on June 20, 1992.

The policeman committed the crime in collaboration with a man called Cvetko Sarcevic, who has since died, the court found.

“The injured parties were civilians. The defendant committed the crime as a co-perpetrator,” judge Snezana Banjac-Lopandic said while pronouncing the verdict.

Brestovac was originally acquitted of the charges in November last year, but after an appeal was filed, the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska quashed the verdict and ordered a retrial.

The new verdict can be appealed at the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska.
