After having given up on the examination of an additional witness, the Bosnian state prosecution completed its presentation of evidence at the trial of Jovan Popovic, charged with crimes in Visegrad.
The first witness to testify on behalf of the district prosecution of Eastern Sarajevo testified at the start of the Milan Komad trial. The witness said he heard that his neighbour and distant relative, Ibrahim Ribac, was killed in June 1992. Komad, a former member of the Bosnian Serb Army, has been charged with crimes in the Visegrad area.
Testifying at the trial of Jovan Popovic, charged with war crimes in Visegrad, a state prosecution witness said the defendant participated in the abduction of his father and two Bosniak neighbours.
The Bosnian state prosecution demanded a longer jail sentence for Vitomir Rackovic, who has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for crimes committed in Visegrad under a first instance verdict. In a written appeal, Rackovic’s defense asked the court to either acquit him of charges or repeal the verdict.
The Bosnian state court has confirmed an indictment against Ahmet Sejdic, charging him with crimes committed against the civilian population and prisoners of war in the municipalities of Rudo, Visegrad and Gorazde.
The presentation of evidence at the Jovan Popovic trial ended with testimony by witness Vesna Petrovic. Testifying for the defense, Vesna Petrovic said the defendant didn’t cause any trouble for his Bosniak neighbours and had good relationships with them.
A state prosecution witness testified at the trial of ten former Bosnian Serb fighters charged with kidnapping civilians from a train in Strpci and murdering them in February 1993.
The first defense witness testified at the trial of Jovan Popovic, who’s been charged with crimes in the Visegrad area in 1992. The witness said Popovic guarded a furniture factory in Visegrad in 1992, and as such couldn’t have been a member of any paramilitary formations.
Three state prosecution witnesses described how family members of theirs traveling on a train from Belgrade were abducted in Strpci near Visegrad on February 27, 1993. They said that was the last time they were seen alive.
