The trial of Milan Komad, charged with crimes in the Visegrad area, will begin on February 18. During the first hearing the indictment will be read, introductory statements will be presented and the first witness for the district prosecution of Eastern Sarajevo will be examined.

The appeals chamber of the Bosnian state court increased the verdict in the Dragan Sekaric case from 14 to 17 years in prison. Sekaric was found guilty of committing crimes against humanity, including murder and rape, in Visegrad in 1992.

Former commander Ahmet Sejdic was charged with crimes against Serb civilians and prisoners of war, including illegal detention and torture, in the municipalities of Rudo, Visegrad and Gorazde.

The state prosecution completed its presentation of evidence at the trial of Jovan Popovic, charged with war crimes in Visegrad. At today’s hearing, the state prosecution presented material evidence and read statements given by two deceased witnesses.

Three people including a police commander were arrested on suspicion that they detained and mistreated scores of Serb civilians, some of them children, in Gorazde, Rudo and Visegrad in 1992-93.

A state prosecution witness testifying at the trial of ten former members of the Bosnian Serb Army said a train filled with civilians was stopped in Strpci by a group of soldiers on February 27, 1993. He said the soldiers entered the train and asked passengers to show identification, before escorting some of them off the train.
