Former Croatian Defence Council military policeman Edin Sakoc denied raping a female prisoner in Pocitelj in July 1992. Edin Sakoc told the state court in Sarajevo on Friday that he was never alone with the victim and did not rape her.

Testifying at the trial of four defendants charged with crimes in the municipality of Capljina, two state prosecution witnesses said people were taken away from villages in the vicinity of Capljina to the Gabela detention camp in July 1993.

Edin Sakoc, a former member of the Croatian Defense Council (HVO), has been extradited from the United States due to suspicions that he committed war crimes in Pocitelj and Capljina.

Testifying at the trial of four former Bosnian Croat fighters accused of war crimes committed in the municipality of Capljina, prosecution witnesses said they surrendered after hiding in the woods from Croat armed forces. They said they surrendered to protect themselves and were taken to the Gabela detention camp.

Former Territorial Defence fighter Ibro Turajlic was sentenced to six years in prison for killing a prisoner of war in the Pocitelj area of southern Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992.

The cantonal court of Mostar scheduled the verdict in the Ibro Turajlic trial for Monday, November 2. Turajlic, nicknamed Zelo, has been charged with war crimes in Pocitelj in the municipality of Capljina in 1992.

A defense witness at the Ibro Turajlic trial said he saw Turajlic, also known as Zelo, after a military operation in Pocitelj in 1992. The witness said Turajlic didnt have a machine gun.

Testifying at the Ibro Turajlic trial, a witness said he saw the defendant shoot a wounded and captured soldier named Mitar Zelenkovic.

Testifying at the trial of Ibro Turajlic (nicknamed Zelo), witness Huso Djonko said he heard someone had shot a wounded person in the Pocitelj area. Turajlic has been charged with war crimes in the municipality of Capljina in 1992.
