The cantonal court in Mostar on Monday found Turajlic guilty of having killed a wounded prisoner of war called Mitar Zelenika, who had already handed his weapons over and surrendered.

Trial chamber chairman Slavko Pavlovic said witnesses’ testimonies had proved that this was a premeditated killing.

“There were many witnesses, some of whom were under suspicion [of having committed other crimes], like witness Ale Duric,” Pavlovic said.

“In fact, Duric’s testimony was a starting point for us. He clearly described how the crime had been committed and said Ibro Turajlic had done it,” he added.

The verdict can be appealed at the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
