The beginning of the renewed trial before the Appellate Chamber of Zoran Babic, Milorad Skrbic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic, indicted for crimes at Koricanske stijene, has been postponed due to health reasons of the two indictees.

The trial of two former members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, who are charged with crimes against the civilian population in Capljina and Stolac, before the State Court is due to begin next week.

The Defence of indictee Branko Topola includes material evidence in the case file, saying that those documents show that policemen, and not the Territorial Defence, of which Topola was a member, committed the murders at Koricanske stijene on August 21, 1992. Ranko Dakic, Defence attorney of indictee Topola, presented material evidence at the trial for the Koricanske stijene crime.

A Defence witness says at the trial for crimes at Koricanske stijene, that indictee Marinko Ljepoja was with him on August 21, 1992, after a bus, which transported civilians from Prijedor to Travnik, broke down.

Four indictees, who are charged with crimes at Koricanske stijene, have been released to liberty under prohibiting measures, because the earlier reasons for ordering them into custody have ceased to exist following the revocation of the first instance verdict against them.

The State Prosecution files a motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, asking it to order custody for Zoran Babic, Milorad Skrbic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic, who were released to liberty under prohibiting measures after the first instance verdict against them was revoked.

Upholding the appeals filed by the Defence teams, the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina revokes the first instance verdict against Zoran Babic, Milorad Skrbic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic, who were sentenced to a total of 86 years in prison for crimes at Koricanske stijene, and orders a retrial.

Following the revocation of a first instance verdict, under which four former policemen from Prijedor were sentenced for Koricanske stijene crimes, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms that a warrant against Dusan Jankovic is still in force.

Testifying in defence of Branko Topola at the trial for crimes at Koricanske stijene, a Defence witness says that the indictee was neither uniformed nor armed, when he was in Trnopolje in 1992, adding that she considered him a cheerful person.

Indictee Civcic, former member of the Interventions Squad with the Public Safety Station in Prijedor, says that he was in his hometown Kupres on the day when crimes were committed at Koricanske stijene, as he was trying to obtain documents for his employment with the police.
