Adamovic and Lukic: Preventing Local Problems

Rajko Kalabic, former member of the Crisis Committee in Kljuc municipality, said that Adamovic signed an application form for joining the Serbian Democratic Party, SDS, as late as at the end of 1993 or beginning of 1994.

“When the military and political conflicts broke out, all those who were in charge of morale issues (with the Army) had to join the SDS. He signed the application form under these conditions in order to prevent problems in our local community,” Kalabic said.

Kalabic testified at the trial of Marko Adamovic and Bosko Lukic, who are charged, as members of SDS and the Crisis Committee in Kljuc municipality, with having participated in a joint criminal enterprise by committing crimes against the non-Serb population.

According to the charges, Adamovic was Commander of the Kljuc Town Defence Command and Deputy Commander of the Territorial Defence, TD, Battalion in Kljuc and Lukic was Commander of the TD Headquarters.

Kalabic said that members of the Military Police Unit with the First Krajina Corps of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, committed murders in Prhovo village. The State Prosecution charges the two indictees with the murders.

“I had no idea that something was going on until the Commander or the Military Police Command came to Jovo Branjac’s office crying. He said that a policeman had been killed, adding he lost control over the military police forces,” said Kalabic, who also testified in defence of indictee Lukic at this trial on November 15 this year.

Kalabic said he is convinced that Adamovic “is not guilty”, adding he “certainly helped people belonging to other ethnic groups”.

The trial is due to continue on Wednesday, December 22.
