Tomas, a former member of the Bosnian Serb Army, has been charged with the physical abuse and inhumane treatment of Bosniak civilians in the village of Breza in the municipality of Hadzici on November 29, 1992.

Velibor Tesic, a former member of the Tinovska Company of the Bosnian Serb Army, testified at today’s hearing. Tesic told the cantonal court of Sarajevo that the defendant was one of his comrades.

He said the two of them were on a military position on Trnovo Hill in the municipality of Hadzici on November 29, 1992, when they were both shot in the legs. Tesic said other soldiers were wounded and killed on that occasion.

He said he didn’t know where the village of Breza was located, or what had happened to Asim Korjenic and another injured party.

He said he never heard Tomas make derogatory comments about Bosniaks.

Gavrilo Zivkovic, a former member of the Tinovska Company of the Bosnian Serb Army, also testified at today’s hearing. Zivkovic confirmed that Tomas was wounded on November 29, 1992.

“I carried Mr. Tomas. I think I did it together with his brother,” Zivkovic said. He said the wounded were transported to a hospital, while he returned to his tranche.

Zivkovic said Tomas might have made derogatory comments about Bosniaks, but only when he was upset over a comrade’s death.

The trial will continue on December 1, when two defense witnesses will be examined.
