According to the indictment, Milosevic killed a civilian who’d been brought to the frontline on Mount Treskavica in the municipality of Trnovo to perform forced labour on February 8, 1995.

After two civilians from the working squad fled, Milosevic allegedly lined up the others and ordered them to lie down in a trench facing the ground.

According to the prosecution, Milosevic then separated one of the civilians and fired several bullets at him. When he fell, he cursed him and asked whether he was still alive. He then shot the civilian again. The civilian died as a result.

Prosecutor Tarik Crnkic said the prosecution intended to examine ten witnesses and to present 20 pieces of material evidence, which would prove that the defendant committed the killing in the manner described in the indictment.

The defense said it would prove that Milosevic was innocent, on the grounds that he was a deserter during the entire war and hadn’t returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina since mid-1994.

The trial will continue on September 16, when four prosecution witnesses will be examined.
