Dolic: Control over Witnesses

A list of visitors present a hearing at Darko Dolic’s trial was presented as material evidence. The Defence explained that the list confirmed that “the trial has been prearranged”, because two witnesses, who had testified earlier, were present in the courtroom and “controlled other witnesses”.

The Defence also presented several pieces of material evidence, including a list of members of the Jastrebovi Squad and a report made by a wartime commission about the rape of women in Lapsunj village, Prozor municipality.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Darko Dolic, former member of the Jastrebovi Reconnaissance Squad, with having raped three women in Druzinovici village, Prozor municipality, at the end of July and beginning of August 1993 and mistreated and physically abused Bosniak civilians.

Defence witness Marko Dedic was also examined at this hearing.

Dedic, a former member of the Jastrebovi (Hawks) Reconnaissance Squad with the Rama Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, said he was on the frontlines together with the indictee at the beginning of August 1993.

The witness explained that he was in Makljen, Prozor municipality, at that time, adding: “Darko Dolic was there as well while I was awake.”

The witness explained that at the beginning of August 1993, members of the Jastrebovi Squad were engaged in searching the terrain after a soldier had disappeared. He said that they would return to their base at Makljen in the evening hours and spend the nights in the base.

“We were ready for action and we searched the terrain. Darko Dolic used to sleep with us in the base,” witness Dedic said.

The trial is due to continue on November 11.
