Prohibiting Measures for the Jozic Brothers Requested

Prosecutor Slavica Terzic proposed that Umrislav, Luka and Mate Jozic be banned from meeting each other or witnesses and ordered to report to a police station.

The Prosecutor said that the State Prosecution was supposed to examine more witnesses, who lived in the Jajce area, just like the suspects.

“We consider that they should report to a competent body. The fact is that they possess dual citizenships – the citizenship of BiH and the Republic of Croatia,” she said, adding that she warned the suspects during the examination that they could also be processed in Croatia in case they fled to that country.

The Defence teams said that they did not object to the proposed prohibiting measures and that they had agreed with them during the examination.

“I must say that this process is led in a correct manner and that the Prosecutor has provided us with all pieces of evidence. I signed a statement that I agreed with these measures. I would not object now,” said Fahrija Karkin, Defence attorney of suspect Umrislav Jozic.

The Jozic brothers were arrested on December 15 due to a suspicion that they participated, as members of the Croatian Defence Forces, HOS, in crimes against civilians in Jajce.

The Prosecution alleges that they took three Serbs out of their houses in Jajce at the beginning of July 1992, took them to the HOS police base in Pecina, where they tortured them and killed them.

The Court will render a decision concerning the measures at a later stage.
