Bosnian Croat Fighter Acquitted of Livno Killings

Andabak was accused of having led the operation in Grborezi, where members of the Second Light Assault Battalion of the Croatian Defence Council’s military police killed one person and wounded another.
According to the charges, the members of the battalion then wounded another person, who Andabak killed.
Andabak was also acquitted of physically mistreating one person.
The indictment said that he was the assistant chief of the Military Police Administration for the North-Western Herzegovina Operational Zone of the Croatian Defence Council and commander of the Second Light Assault Battalion of the Croatian Defence Council military police.
The court found that the prosecution had not proved his guilt beyond reasonable doubt, ruling that two protected witnesses’ testimonies were speculative, confusing and contradictory.
“Those pieces of prosecution’s evidence have not been sufficient for proving the defendant guilty of the described actions,” presiding judge Zeljka Marenic said.
Under the verdict, Andabak does not have to pay any costs, while the injured parties were advised to settle their claims through civil suits.
The verdict can be appealed.
