Former Croatian Defence Council military policeman Zdenko Andabak was cleared of committing war crimes during an attack on the village of Grborezi in the Livno municipality in 1993. The state court in Sarajevo on Friday found Zdenko Andabak not guilty of committing war crimes during the Croatian Defence Council attack on Grborezi July 21, 1993.

Twelve witnesses’ testimony was discounted in the trial of a former Croatian Defence Council fighter for wartime crimes in Livno because the defendant’s lawyer was suspended.

The wife of former Marijan Brnjic said he was not a Croatian Defence Council fighter and was in Germany at the time he allegedly raped a woman in the Odzak area in 1992. Defence witness Klara Brnjic told the court in Sarajevo on Wednesday that her husband Marijan was in Germany, where his family was living, at the time the crime was committed.

At the trial of four ex-policemen accused of involvement in a deadly raid in the Capljina municipality in July 1993, a prosecution witness testified about the capture of Bosniaks during the operation.

Testifying in defense of Zdenko Andabak, a witness said he heard the defendant informing the commanding officer on dead and wounded men and asking him to send an ambulance and police on the day when a disarmament operation was conducted in Grborezi village in Livno municipality.

A state prosecution witness said approximately 100 Serbs were detained in the Ivan Goran Kovacic school building in Livno. The witness said the detainees were under the control of Muhamed Ibrahimovic.
