After considering the evidence presented by the prosecution and defense, the chamber didn’t find sufficient evidence demonstrating Majstorovic’s guilt.

Presiding judge Milorad Krkeljas said the chamber determined that the decisive portion of the prosecution’s evidence was contradictory.

Last year the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska repealed a verdict handed down by the district court of Eastern Sarajevo on February 2, 2015, which acquitted Majstorovic of committing crimes in the Kula Penal and Correctional Facility. A retrial was ordered.

According to the indictment, Majstorovic, a former investigator, treated a Bosniak civilian detained in the Kula Penal and Correctional Facility in an inhumane manner. He also allegedly intentionally inflicted physical and mental suffering upon the civilian.

During the war, Majstorovic was an operational worker with the crime service of the public safety station in Novo Sarajevo.

The parties have the right to file an appeal against the verdict.
