Under a first instance verdict handed down in April 2015, Macic was found guilty of committing war crimes against the civilian population. Macic and fifteen other members of the Bosnian Army attacked civilians in the village of Blaca near Konjic on June 13, 1992. He and another person shot in the direction of four elderly Serb women who were found in the home of Milutin Kuljanin. The women, Ana Kuljanin, Danica Kuljanin, Cvjeta Kilibarda and Jelka Kilibarda, were killed. Their bodies have still not been found.

Macic has also been convicted on seven counts of participating in the mistreatment, physical abuse, mental abuse and sexual abuse of Serb and Croat detainees held in the Musala detention camp in 1993.

The state court declared that the appeals chamber rejected appeals filed by both the state prosecution and defense. In its appeal, the state prosecution requested that the court hand down a longer prison sentence, while the defense proposed that the court either acquit Macic or repeal the verdict and order a retrial.
