The defendants have been charged with abusing prisoners Vinko and Marijo Zrno in the Bugojno area. Vinko and Marijo Zrno were allegedly beaten unconscious by the defendants. Marijo Zrno was beaten to death.

Bekir Ferizovic, Muhko Velagic’s defense attorney, claimed his client was innocent. Adil Lozo, Safet Velagic’s defense attorney, described the indictment as imprecise.

Testifying at today’s hearing, Marijo Zrno’s sister Ruzica Dominik said she was in Split when she found out that her brother had been captured on July 30, 1993. A month later, Dominik said she heard that her brother had been killed. She said Vinko Zrno told her about the circumstances of his death.

Marijo Zrno’s parents were expected to testify at today’s hearing but were unable to appear in court due to their poor health. Their legal representative, Ana Primorac, said they were in favour of the prosecution.

The trial continues on February 25.
