Marjanovic, a former member of the Bircanska Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army, has been charged with war crimes committed at a detention facility in Caparde in June 1992. The facility held unlawfully detained Bosniak women who’d been deported from the Brcko area.

According to the charges, Marjanovic raped and sexually abused one woman in the facility in an extremely cruel manner, using both threats and physical force.

After having examined the defendant and reviewed his medical documentation, neuropsychiatrist Vasika Draskovic said Marjanovic’s health was deteriorating and that he was in a state of temporary mental disorder.

“Due to his health the defendant is incapable of following the course of the trial rationally and representing his own stands,” Draskovic said.

Draskovic was unable to determine whether the defendant’s health could improve and proposed that a new medical examination be conducted in September 2016.

According to Draskovic, the defendant had no health problems, psychiatric or otherwise, when his crimes was allegedly committed.

This case was transferred to judicial bodies in Bijeljina for further processing in February 2015, after the state court confirmed the indictment.
