Andabak, a former member of the Croatian Defense Council, has been charged with commanding an operation in the village of Grborezi in the municipality of Livno on July 21, 1993. Members of the military police of the Second Light Assault Battalion of the Croatian Defense Council killed one person and wounded another by opening fire at them, in Andabak’s presence.

Members of the Second Light Assault Battalion then allegedly wounded another person, whom Andabak killed by firing a bullet in his head.

Court medical expert Zeljko Karan testified at today’s hearing. Karan said the medical documentation on one of the injured parties in the case didn’t contain any indications on the injury of bones, nerves, blood vessels or any current disability. He determined that the injured party received light bodily injuries.

He said the wound on the injured party’s calf was caused by firearms, but the dimensions, entry point and exit point of the bullet weren’t mentioned. Karan said this indicated the bullet scratched the injured party’s leg. According to Karan, the blood test didn’t indicate significant blood loss.

Karan said the injured party said she was “wounded in an attempt to disarm Muslims in Grborezi in the municipality of Livno.” He said she underwent medical treatment at a hospital in Livno from July 21 to August 9, 1993.

At the beginning of the hearing the defendant said he was not feeling well. A break was ordered to offer him medical assistance.

The trial will continue on October 28.
