Vojic and Mesic, both former members of the 501st Brigade of the Fifth Corps of the Bosnian Army, have been charged with raping a woman and forcing another person to rape her on the night of May 1 or 2, 1994 in Bihac.

At today’s hearing, trial chamber chair Zoran Bozic said the court hadn’t received information on whether today’s witness, who lives in Serbia, had received an invitation to testify.

“Prosecutor, we don’t have any information on the address of the witness. Belgrade isn’t at the end of the world, so one could go there, verify the data and solve this problem,” Bozic said.

Prosecutor Cazim Hasanspahic said his investigator had contacted a family member of the witness, who had promised to obtain the correct address for the summons.

“However, considering the fact that it’s in the Bosnian state prosecution’s interest to resolve this issue, I shall now ask my investigator to personally travel to Belgrade in order to solve the issue of this witness,” Hasanspahic said.

The trial chamber ordered the defense teams to submit their evidence presentation plans by the next hearing.

The trial will continue on October 21.
