Lucic had investigated the crime several years ago, and had questioned the rape victim, known as A.N. He had observed that her mental health had suffered and that the rape had affected her family as well.
At the beginning of the trial, Lucic said A.N. was presented with photos of the defendants, whom she recognized. She had known them from before the war.
Vojic and Mesic, former members of the 501st Brigade with the Fifth Corps of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, have been charged with the rape of A.N. and with forcing another person to rape her as well. The rape allegedly occurred on May 1 or 2, 1994.
Lucic said that during the course of his investigation he temporarily seized certain medical documentation from the cantonal hospital in Bihac.
In his introductory statement prosecutor Cazim Hasanspahic said he would prove the allegations contained in the indictment. The defense said it would not present its introductory statement at this stage.
The trial will continue on March 25.
