Custody for Ten Suspects Requested

The custody measure was proposed for Goran Maksimovic, Ljiljan Mitrovic, Radivoje Djordjic, Slavko Peric, Mile Vujevic, Vukasin Draskovic, Gojko Stevanovic, Cvjetko Popadic, Rajo Lazarevic and Mico Manojlovic.

The Prosecution of BiH proposed that they be ordered into custody due to a danger that they might flee and fear that they might interfere with the investigation, hide evidence and influence witnesses, accomplices and helpers while at liberty, as well as due to the way in which the crime was committed, which had a significant impact on citizens and the general public.

They are suspected, as former senior officials of police and military structures, of having planned, managed and supervised the operations and activities and participated, in collaboration with other members of military forces, in mass persecution of the Bosniak population from Lokanj village, Zvornik municipality, on July 14, 1992.

“They committed persecution of about 120 civilians, including women and children. Following the persecution, they took columns of victims to various locations and detention facilities, where they were tortured and abused in various manners. The separated groups of people and committed mass shootings on several occasions. More than 67 victims were killed,” the Prosecution of BiH said in its announcement.

The Court of BiH will render a decision concerning the Prosecution’s proposal at a later stage.
