The witnesses said that many members of Subotic family were taken away from their houses in Duzice hamlet to the Police Station on June 10, 1992.

Radoslav Subotic said that he was not present in the village, when it happened, but his cousins told him about it.

“All members of Subotic family, except for an old man and a disabled man, were taken away. My father Zdravko was among the arrested people. They beat him and Momcilo Subotic more than the others. They hit them with boots and wooden batons. They died due to the beating. Hajrudin Dedic, known as Caco, and Galib Ramic were most brutal in beating the group of men, including my father and Momcilo,” the witness said.

He said that his cousin told him that one of them said: “Look, you killed the man”, while another one responded: “You killed a Chetnik, who gives a fuck”.

“I received an official confirmation from Dr. Vlatko, whom I met, when civilians – women and children, were leaving the site a few days later. He told me that my father was dumped into River Stavnja, so it would look as if though my father was killed while trying to flee,” Radoslav Subotic said.

Witness Bosko Subotic found out about the murder of the Subotics from other people, who told him that the indictee and Ramic beat his grandfather Momcilo so brutally that he died on the following day.

“They first beat him and then returned him to the village. My mother, who was in the house, saw that blood was pouring out of my grandfather’s ears and mouth when they brought him. They took him back to the Station and continued beating him. My grandfather told Mico, who told me about this, that he would die and that he could no longer bear it. He died soon after that,” Bosko Subotic said.

The two witnesses said that they had known the indictee from before the war as a policeman.

The trial is due to continue on December 26.
