It was said that some of the planned Defence witnesses were under investigation.

Irena Pehar, Defence attorney of the indictee, said that a certain number of Defence witnesses were “subjected to investigative activities”, adding that she would inform the Trial Chamber about it subsequently.

Prosecutor Sanja Jukic said that one of the persons, whose name was included in the list of Defence witnesses, was most probably a suspect.

“I am 90 per cent sure that he is a suspect, but I shall confirm that to you later on,” Jukic said.

The indictment alleges that Jukic, former member of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, is charged with having participated, along with other members of HVO and the Croatian Army, HV, in the persecution of Bosniak civilians, murders and forced disappearances in Prozor in the period from July to September 1993.

The trial is due to continue on June 13.
