Stojanovic was pronounced guilty of having killed Ilija Antunovic from Orahovo, near Kotor-Varos on August 9, 1992, acting in collaboration with another person.
The Trial Chamber determined that the Prosecution had fully proved the allegations contained in the indictment.
Stojanovic took Antunovic out of a bus, driving Croats from Orahovo village to Travnik, and handcuffed him.
He then drove away, along with another unidentified member of the Police Station, in a police vehicle towards Knezevo. They killed Antunovic in an unknown manner. His remains were found at Koricanske stijene, near Knezevo, during an exhumation conducted in May 2003, the Chamber said.
Trial Chamber Chairwoman Olga Pantic said that the fact that the indictee was member of police forces at the time was considered an aggravating circumstance in this case.
When it comes to mitigating circumstances, we have taken into consideration the facts that the indictee is a family man, that he is a rewarded member of police forces and that he has never been sentenced before, as well as the passage of time and his correct conduct during the trial, Pantic explained.
As she said, the Chamber considered the fact that Stojanovic helped Bosniaks and Croats during the war conflicts as a special mitigating circumstance.
