Ivanovic: Inviting Witnesses for Cross-examination

State Prosecutor Ibro Bulic told the Trial Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina that all witnesses whose statements were submitted to the Court by the Prosecution had been invited to testify, but it was not certain whether they would respond to the invitation.

“The Prosecution has been informed by e-mail that some witnesses refuse to give any kind of statements before this Court. For the time being three witnesses have agreed to be cross-examined by the Defence. Their testimony can be done via video link.

“The Prosecution expresses its hesitation about the cross-examination of these witnesses, but it will respect the State Court’s decision on the issue,” Bulic said.

The State Prosecution charges Zeljko Ivanovic, known as Arkan, former member of the Skelani Third Unit with the Second Special Police Squad of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, MUP RS, with having participated in the capture and shooting of more than 1,000 men in Kravica Agricultural Cooperative premises on July 13, 1995.

Petko Pavlovic, additional Defence attorney for indictee Ivanovic, said that he left it up to the Trial Chamber to decide whether the witnesses should be invited.

At the next hearing, which is scheduled for April 28, the Court will announce its decision on whether additional witnesses will be invited in order to be cross-examined by the Defence.
