“The Supreme Court rejects the Prosecution’s appeal and confirms the verdict of release pronounced by the Cantonal Court in Livno,” the FBiH Supreme Court confirmed.

On March 17, 2010 the Cantonal Court in Livno acquitted Zulj of the charges that he killed a soldier in Olovo village on November 3, 1994, as a member of the Special Unit with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the then Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna.

The Cantonal Prosecution in Livno appealed the verdict over what it said were violations of the criminal proceeding and wrongly and incompletely determined facts, and asked the Court to revoke the verdict.

The Defence called on the Court to reject the Cantonal Prosecution’s appeal as groundless, because it had not been proved that “the indictee committed the actions described in the indictment”, adding that it considered that the facts had been correctly determined and the Court “had made a correct decision”.

The parties do not have the right to appeal the FBiH Supreme Court’s decision.
