The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has rendered a decision terminating the custody of Krsto Savic and ordering prohibiting measures. Krstic has spent more than a year in custody.
Former chief of the Safety Services Center in Trebinje, Savic is charged with crimes against humanity committed in Nevesinje, Kalinovik, Bilec and Gacko municipalities.The same indictment charges Milko Mucibabic, a former policeman from Nevesinje.
The two men were arrested in September 2007. In October 2008 the State Court terminated custody of Mucibabic, ordering certain prohibiting measures instead.
According to the State Court’s custody termination order, Savic is banned from leaving his place of residence without permission from the Court. In addition, his travel document and personal identification documents have been confiscated and he is obliged to report to the Police Station in Trebinje twice a day. Local police officers are tasked with informing the State Court about this every day.
Savic is also banned from contacting witnesses, the other indictee in his case, and”potential accomplices”, and he “may not discuss the case with anybody else except his Defence attorney”.
Finally, Savic is banned from performing activities or official duties in police or military institutions, as well as any other activities connected to the case against him.
