Witness Stojanka Savic told Oric’s trial at the state court on Tuesday that a man Zoran, whose surname she could not remember, was in a trench with her husband Mitar in the village of Kunjerac when he was shot with a machine gun and died immediately.
“Zoran said he was shot in his mouth,” the witness said.
She said that when her husband’s body was brought to the health centre on February 16, 1993, staff confirmed he was wounded in the mouth and that one of his teeth and half of his moustache were missing.
But she said that she did not see her husband’s body because she was afraid of looking at a corpse.
“I asked for his medical record, but it is in The Hague ,” the witness said.
The defence said it would include the medical record as material evidence.
The witness also testified that she heard on television that Oric opened fire at her husband, but said she knew nothing about it.
Oric and Sabahudin Muhic are charged with killing prisoner of war Mitar Savic in Kunjerac, as well as two other Serb prisoners of war in the villages of Zalazje and Lolici.
According to the charges, Oric was the commander of the Territorial Defence Headquarters of the Bosnian Army and Muhic was a member of his forces.
The trial will continue on June 28.
