Blagojevic Trial Begins February 29

The cantonal court of Zenica has scheduled the start of the Rajko Blagojevic trial for February 29. Blagojevic, a former member of the Bosnian Serb Army (VRS), has been charged with committing war crimes in Maglaj.

Blagojevic has been charged with ordering the murder of captured civilian Hidajet Osmanagic, also known as Cakan, in the village of Jablanica in the municipality of Maglaj in July or August 1992.

Blagojevic pleaded not guilty before a preliminary hearing judge.

Former policeman Mladjen Vasiljevic was sentenced to three years in prison for shooting a civilian dead in the Ribnik area in August 1992. The District Court in Banja Luka on Tuesday convicted ex-policeman Mladjen Vasiljevic of committing crimes against the civilian population in the Ribnik area.
