“Rumours said that something happened in relation to that. I personally know nothing,” said Vidosav Josipovic, former member of the Sixth Battalion with the Zvornik Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS.

The witness said that, while he was on the frontline, which was about two kilometres away from Petkovci, from the fall of Srebrenica on July 11 until about ten days later.

Josipovic testified at the trial of Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are charged with having participated in murders on a dam, near Petkovci, where about 1,000 Srebrenica residents, who had been captured before, were shot in mid-July 1995.

According to the charges, Stanisic was Commander of the Sixth Battalion, while Milosevic was his Deputy.

Prior to being presented a statement given during the investigation witness Josipovic said that he “heard nothing” except that the Srebrenica residents had been brought to the dam.

The statement, which was read by Prosecutor Predrag Tomic, indicated that the witness said: “It is known now. Some bringing of people and shooting happened.”

“I cannot deny what I said before,” said Josipovic, who was warned several times not to avoid responding to questions related to the dam.

Responding to Defence’s questions, the witness said that he had not heard that members of the Sixth Battalion participated in the murders.

The trial is due to continue on June 25.
