A former Bosnian Serb army commander, Marko Milosevic – who in January was acquitted of all charges related to the Srebrenica genocide – is demanding compensation for the time he spent in custody and for damage to his health.
Former Bosnian Serb Army officer Ostoja Stanisic was sentenced to 11 years in prison for assisting the genocide of Bosniaks from Srebrenica in July 1995, but his deputy was acquitted.
In closing arguments in the trial of ex-soldier Marko Milosevic, his defence lawyer said the prosecution had not proved that the defendant was guilty of involvement in killing hundreds of Srebrenica Bosniaks.
Testifying at a trial dealing with the Srebrenica genocide, additional defense witnesses said that defendants Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic were at a forward command post and on the frontline during an attack in July 1995.
According to the charges, Stanisic was the commander of the Sixth Battalion of the Zvornicka Brigade with the Bosnian Serb Army and Milosevic was his deputy.
