As Behric cannot be extradited to BiH, because he is Croatian citizen, the Bihac Cantonal Prosecution forwarded evidence to their colleagues at DORH.

Behric, against whom the Cantonal Prosecution in Bihac filed an indictment, is suspected of having been manager of Drmaljevo detention camp in Velika Kladusa in the Western Bosnia Autonomous Region from May to August 1994.

According to the charges, he held men, women and children in inhumane conditions and often subjected them to mental and physical abuse, due to which a large number of civilians got bodily injuries.

According to Jasmin Mesic, Prosecutor with the Cantonal Prosecution in Bihac, following the filing of the indictment, it was proposed to the Cantonal Court in Bihac to refer the case to Croatian judiciary.

“The Croatian judiciary has taken this case over according to our indictment. Considering the fact that he is Croatian citizen, they deprived him of liberty,” Mesic said.

The County Court in Rijeka ordered Behric into investigative custody.
