Defence witnesses say at the retrial of four indictees, who are charged with crimes at Koricanske stijene, that they neither saw indictee Dusan Jankovic on August 21, 1992, when a convoy of Bosniak civilians departed Prijedor, nor during the trip towards Travnik.

The retrial of the four indictees, who are charged with crimes committed at Koricanske stijene in August 1992, has been postponed until March 9 this year, as the first indictee Zeljko Babic fails to appear in court.

At the beginning of the retrial of four indictees, who are charged with crimes committed at Koricanske stijene, indictee Dusan Jankovic, who has been on the run since the pronouncement of a first instance verdict in December 2010, appears before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The retrial of the four ex-members of the police station in Prijedor, charged with murdering more then 150 people on Koricanske stijene in Travnik municipality in August 1992 will start on February 24. At the status conference before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina it was agreed that the retrial of Zoran Babic, Milorad Skrbic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic, charged with the crime at Koricanske stijene, begin on Friday, February 24, 2012.

The beginning of the renewed trial before the Appellate Chamber of Zoran Babic, Milorad Skrbic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic, indicted for crimes at Koricanske stijene, has been postponed due to health reasons of the two indictees.

Four indictees, who are charged with crimes at Koricanske stijene, have been released to liberty under prohibiting measures, because the earlier reasons for ordering them into custody have ceased to exist following the revocation of the first instance verdict against them.

The State Prosecution files a motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, asking it to order custody for Zoran Babic, Milorad Skrbic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic, who were released to liberty under prohibiting measures after the first instance verdict against them was revoked.

Upholding the appeals filed by the Defence teams, the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina revokes the first instance verdict against Zoran Babic, Milorad Skrbic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic, who were sentenced to a total of 86 years in prison for crimes at Koricanske stijene, and orders a retrial.

Following the revocation of a first instance verdict, under which four former policemen from Prijedor were sentenced for Koricanske stijene crimes, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms that a warrant against Dusan Jankovic is still in force.

Three days after the flight of Dusan Jankovic, the State Court says that situations like this one point to the weaknesses of legal provisions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
