The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina said that the release of the four former members of the Public Safety Station from Prijedor would “disturb citizens, which could lead to disturbance of the public order and peace”.

The Court will consider the State Prosecution’s custody motion at a hearing scheduled for Monday, October 31 this year. In December last year the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina pronounced a first instance verdict, sentencing both Babic and Skrbic to 22 years in prison, Jankovic to 27 and Stojnic to 15 years for participating in the murder of more than 200 Bosniak civilians at Koricanske stijene on Mount Vlasic on August 21, 1992.

Babic, Skrbic and Stojnic were members of the Interventions Squad of Prijedor police, while, as stated under the verdict, Jankovic was Commander of the Police Station in Prijedor .

After the parties had presented their first instance verdict appeals, the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina revoked the verdict, ordered a retrial and released the indictees to liberty under prohibiting measures.

The four indictees were allowed to defend themselves while at liberty during the course of the trial, but they were ordered into custody following the pronouncement of the first instance verdict in December 2010.

Dusan Jankovic did not attend the pronouncement of the first instance verdict. He has been on the run since. A warrant against him has been issued.
