Former Commander of the Ozren Tactical Group with the Republika Srpska Army Novak Djukic was released from prison after the Bosnian Constitutional court revoked a verdict under which he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for crimes in Tuzla.

The Court of the Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced on Monday Mirko Pekez to 20 years of prison for crimes in Jajce area, applying the Criminal Code of the Former Yugoslavia.

The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, accepts, due to the wrong application of law, an appeal filed by Novak Djukic who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for having committed a crime in Tuzlanska Kapija.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina proposes to the Court to sentence Nikola Andrun, whose trial has been renewed due to wrong application of law, to at least 18 years in prison, while the Defence requests his release.

The Defence of five indictees, who were released after the verdicts against them for assisting in the Srebrenica genocide was quashed, request the Court to reduce their sentence to between five and 15 years, while the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina requests maximal imprisonment sentences.

The Defence of Petar Mitrovic, who was released from prison after his verdict for assistance in the commission of genocide in Srebrenica had been quashed, says that it would not be justifiable to sentence the indictee to a maximum imprisonment sentence.

The retrial of Nikola Andrun, who was released from prison, where he was serving his sentence for crimes in Capljina, because the verdict against him was quashed, has begun before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the week ahead, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is due to pronounce first instance verdicts against seven indictees, who are charged with crimes in the areas of Kotor-Varos, Capljina and Stolac, as well as Prozor.

Applying the Criminal Code of the former Yugoslavia, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina reduces sentence against Zrinko Pincic from nine to six years in prison for crimes in Konjic.

After the quashing of the second instance verdict, the prosecution requested that Zrinko Pincic be sentenced to a more than nine years of prison, while the defence believed he should be acquitted or receive a lower sentence.
