Former Bosnian Army officer Enver Buza went on trial over the killings of 27 Croat civilians - the youngest aged ten - by his troops in the Prozor municipality in 1993. Buza, the former commander of Bosnian Army’s Prozor Independent Battalion, went on trial on Monday at the state court in Sarajevo.

The Bosnian state court on Friday confirmed the indictment against Buza for crimes against civilians in the Prozor area in September 1993, when troops under his control killed 27 Croats in the village of Uzdol.

In its closing statement, the state prosecution asked the court to sentence Nikola Maric to long term imprisonment for committing crimes against humanity in the Prijedor area.

Testifying in his own defense, defendant Nikola Maric said he didn’t kill prisoner Munib Grcic in a secondary school center in Prozor. The state prosecution’s indictment has accused Maric of his murder.
