The defense of Ilija Djogatovic has called upon the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to acquit him or revoke the first instance verdict against him. Djogatovic has been sentenced to six years in prison for crimes committed in the Donji Vakuf area. The prosecution is asking that the appeal be rejected and the first instance verdict confirmed.

The Mato Baotic trial began with a reading of the indictment and the presentation of introductory statements. Baotic has been charged with war crimes committed in the Orasje area in 1992 and 1993.

Bosnian Serb ex-policeman Darko Mrdja, who has already served a sentence for massacring Bosniaks, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in torturing and killing prisoners in Prijedor in 1992.

A state prosecution witness testifying at the trial of four former members of the Bosnian Serb Army said his father was shot by defendant Mile Kokot. The witness said Kokot was accompanied by co-defendant Goran Mrdja and killed his father at their house in Fajtovci in the municipality of Sanski Most.

Trials for crimes committed in Orasje and Buzim are scheduled to begin before the Bosnian state court next week.

Family members of victims kidnapped and killed in Strpci, Rudo, in February 1993, testified at the trial of ten former Bosnian Serb soldiers charged with their abduction and killing. At today’s trial, the family members of the victims recalled the last contact they had with their loved ones.

The retrial of Ermin Curtic has begun at the cantonal court of Sarajevo. Curtic has been charged with crimes committed in the Vares area in 1993.

Testifying at the trial of two former members of the Bosnian Serb Army charged with genocide in Srebrenica, a state prosecution witness said the command of the Bosnian Serb Army’s Sixth Battalion was located in an old school building in Petkovci. This contradicts previous statements given by the witness during the investigation phase of the case.

Testifying at the trial of three defendants charged with war crimes in the Prijedor area, defense witnesses described the security situation in Prijedor in the spring of 1992.

The state prosecution has filed an indictment against two former members of the Croatian Defense Council, charging them with crimes committed in Stolac.
