Under the same second instance verdict, Sakib Halilovic has been acquitted of charges.

Attorney of defendant Veseli, Mirna Delalic, confirmed this in her statement to the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network Bosnia and Herzegovina, BIRN BiH.

“The defense will definitely submit an appeal to the Constitutional Court due to numerous violations of the right to a fair trial to which we pointed out during the trial,” Delalic said.

Under a first instance verdict passed down in May this year, Veseli was sentenced for the murder of 12-year-old boy Slobodan Stojanovic committed in the Zvornik area in the summer of 1992.

“The Chamber determined that Veseli committed the murder of the boy with direct premeditation by shooting him with fire arms in his head from immediate distance,” the first instance verdict alleges.

Under the same verdict, Halilovic was acquitted of charges that, in his capacity as commander of the Sabotage Squad with Liplje-Kamenica Joint Units, he watched Veseli commit the murder and failed to undertake measures to punish the murder perpetrator.

The Appeals Chamber’s verdict may not be appealed.
