The district prosecution in Eastern Sarajevo has charged Muhamed Adzem, Omer Ugljesa, Senad Halilovic and Suljo Karkelja, former members of the Bosnian Army, with participating in the murder of seven captured members of the Bosnian Serb Army from Trovrh on September 17, 1992.

According to the charges, the detainees were captured on August 21, 1992, and were detained in the municipal secretariat for internal affairs (SUP) in Gorazde. They were allegedly taken to Ladjeva Stijena in the village of Kopaci, where they were killed.

Deso Begovic testified at today’s hearing for the district prosecution of Eastern Sarajevo. Begovic said he and other other local residents of Bucje in the municipality of Gorazde were imprisoned in the secretariat for internal affairs in Gorazde during the summer of 1992.

He said a group of men captured in Trovrh were brought to the secretariat building. He said he didn’t know the captives.

“I heard they beat them,” Begovic said. He said the other prisoners weren’t allowed to go outside or talk to the Trovrh prisoners.

He said the Trovrh captives spent seven days in detention, and heard rumours that they were taken away to be exchanged. Begovic said he didn’t know anything more about their fate.

The trial will continue on January 21.
