Saric has been charged with commanding police forces who participated in the search, disarmament and forcible relocation of women, children and the elderly, as well as separating Bosniak men and boys who were executed in the Srebrenica area in July 1995.

Mendeljev Djuric, who was sentenced to 28 years in prison for participating in the Srebrenica genocide, was expected to testify at today’s hearing as a state prosecution witness. He told the court he wasn’t ready to testify because he received the state prosecution’s invitation “out of the blue.” Djuric said the Bosnian state prosecution hadn’t contacted him with regard to his testimony earlier.

“To be honest, I would like my attorney Miodrag Stojanovic to accompany me as my legal advisor…I’m so excited I’m shaking,” Djuric said.

The Bosnian state court appointed attorney Dragoslav Peric to act as Djuric’s legal advisor and postponed the hearing by seven days.

The trial will continue on August 31.
