Crepulja failed to appear at the cantonal court of Zenica because of his poor health, said defense attorney Nikica Bodul.

“He is waiting for a heart transplant surgery, so he isn’t capable of attending the trial,” Bodul said.

According to trial chamber chairman Enes Malicbegovic, a court expert had determined on the basis of medical documentation that Crepulja was incapable of participating in the proceedings or following the trial.

The indictment alleges that Crepulja, a former member of the Croatian Defense Council, killed a minor in the village of Ratanj on October 16, 1993. He allegedly committed the murder without any cause or reason.

The trial was previously postponed in January and February due to his poor health.

The next hearing has been scheduled for May 27.
