Two witnesses, who were due to testify in defence of Iulian-Nicolae Vintila, who is charged with crimes in former “Viktor Bubanj” military barracks in Sarajevo, fail to appear before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, so the hearing is postponed.
The Trial Chamber said that one of the witnesses had not received the Court summons, requesting the Defence to check the address of his place of residence.
“The second witness received the summons, but, on the basis of the delivery note, it is not clear to us whether she received it personally. We shall therefore postpone the examination of these two witnesses until the next hearing,” said Trial Chamber Chairwoman Zeljka Marenic.
Vintila is on trial, along with Ramiz Avdovic, for having participated in the establishment and maintenance of a system for abuse of Serb civilians from June to the end of November 1992.
The Prosecution of BiH alleges that Avdovic was Commander of guards on the fifth floor of the District Prison in Sarajevo and former “Viktor Bubanj” military barracks, while Vintila was a cook and guard in the former barracks.
The trial is due to continue on December 16.
