The Basic Court in Brcko rejects a Prosecution’s proposal to extend custody for indictee Redzep Salaj and releases him to liberty under prohibiting measures.
The prohibiting measures, which the Basic Court ordered against Salaj, include a ban on leaving his place of residence, confiscation of his travel documents and an obligation to report to police periodically.
The Brcko District Prosecution requested the Court to extend custody against Salaj due to a danger that he might flee, considering the fact that he had dual citizenship and a place of residence in another country, but the Defence objected to the proposal.
Salaj was held in custody since June this year.
The Brcko District Prosecution charges Salaj with having participated in murders, torture and inhumane treatment of civilians and prisoners of war in Brcko municipality.
The trial of Salaj began in November. The next hearing is scheduled for December 15.
