Vasic is charged with participating in a criminal enterprise, while Zoljic and Pantic are accused of aiding and abetting the genocide when 40,000 people were forcibly relocated and 8,000 Bosniak men and boys from the UN “protected zone” of Srebrenica were executed.

“They participated in the planning and realization of the genocide committed in Srebenica, by ensuring and ordering the use of manpower and police equipment for the capture and forcible separation of Bosniak men and boys after the fall of Srebrenica in July 1995,” the Prosecution said.

The defendants participated in planning and realizing the arrest of prisoners, their transportation to sites of mass execution, as well as carrying out executions of several thousand Bosniak men at Kozluk, Branjevo, Pilica and other places, it added.

The Prosecution also charges them with burying the victims in mass graves and with exhuming and removing the bodies to secondary mass graves in order to conceal the crime.

Vasic is charged as former commander of Zvornik police headquarters and chief of the Public Security Center in Zvornik, while Zoljic is charged as commander of Special Police Units of the Public Security Center in Zvornik. Pantic is charged as commander of the the first troop of the Special Police Units.

The Prosecution said it was one of the most comprehensive indictments concerning the 1995 genocide in Srebrenica. The Prosecution also said it expected 137 witnesses to testify, including 20 protected witnesses.

Several hundred items of material evidence are attached to the indictment.

“Significant cooperation with the Hague prosecution was realized within a thorough investigation of this case,” the Prosecution said.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia for confirmation.
