As announced by attorney Milos Peric, the Defence witnesses would testify about the conditions and events in “Uzamnica” military barracks, the security situation in Visegrad as of April 1992, as well as attacks by “Muslim armed forces against Serb civilians”.

He also said that the witnesses would deny the credibility of State Prosecution witnesses. The Defence will present about 15 pieces of material evidence as well.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, charges Goran Popovic, former guard in “Uzamnica” detention camp, with having participated in abuse, beating and torture as well as sexual abuse of men and women.

At this hearing the Prosecution proposed that eight pieces of material evidence be included in the case file. The documents include, among others, an instruction on organising bodies of the Serbian Democratic Party, SDS, issued on December 19, 1991, with which the Prosecution wanted to prove the general elements of crime against humanity, and a decision, declaring the state of war, issued by the Presidency of the Serbian Republic of BiH in April 1992.

First Defence witnesses will be examined at the next hearing scheduled for October 15.
