Haematomas on Face

Jasmin Smajic, a former military policeman with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, said that he had known Blagovcanin as an inspector before the war.  
 
“I knew him very well. My personality was criminogenic and he was an inspector. I saw him in the INA building for the last time. He was beaten up. (…) I know that he was beaten up, brutally beaten up. I saw haematomas on his face,” Smajic said.       

Smajic said that Blagovcanin was alone in the room and that a military policeman was standing in front of the room.  

He said that the military police, of which he was a member, and was subordinate to Ismet Bajramovic, known as Celo, and “a battalion” commanded by Mario Frimel were based in the INA building in Hrasno.

The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecution charges Mario Frimel, former Commander of the “Ivan Krndelj” Squad of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, with having unlawfully arrested and physically and mentally abused Serbs in Hrasno neighbourhood, Sarajevo.

“I used to see Mario Frimel. He was not dressed in civilian clothing but in some camouflage uniform. He was Commander of the Battalion,” Smajic said, adding that Frimel could not give orders to military policemen.

Responding to a Defence’s question, the witness confirmed that Blagovcanin was in front of the premises of military police, which was subordinate to the Main Headquarters.

Ismet Bajramovic, known as Celo, was found dead in his apartment in 2008.
