“I am not guilty of a single letter in the indictment, let alone a count,” Jovan Popovic told the court in Sarajevo on Monday.

His son Goran Popovic also said that he was not guilty.

The two former fighters are indicted for allegedly participating in the persecution of Bosniak civilians from the village of Rodic Brdo in the Visegrad municipality in eastern Bosnia from April to September 1992.

They are charged with taking part in killings, forced relocations, illegal imprisonment, rape, sexual slavery, forced disappearances, the destruction and removal of property, causing severe suffering and physical harm and other inhuman acts.

Their trial will start in the next 60 days.
