Gazdic was found guilty of having raped three females during a widespread and systematic attack by military, paramilitary and police forces of Republika Srpska against the Bosniak civilian population in Foca municipality from April 1992 to the end of March 1993.

According to the verdict, Gazdic raped three females who were detained in “Partizan” sports hall.

The Appellate Chamber rejected the appeals against the first instance verdict filed by the Prosecution and Defence, as well as Gazdic himself, saying that they were unfounded. The Defence and Gazdic requested the Court to quash the first instance verdict and order a new trial, while the Prosecution wanted him to be pronounced guilty for crimes of which he was acquitted under the first instance verdict.

Gazdic was acquitted of the charges that he raped witnesses A and B and held one female person in conditions of sexual slavery.

Gazdic has been held in custody since mid-April 2011. Following the pronouncement of this verdict, he will be sent to a prison, where he will serve his sentence.
